What decompressing actually does

Right now your tokens are real but compressed. They exist on Solana and nobody can take them. They are just stored in a way most wallets do not read.
Decompressing creates a normal token account for you. After that your wallet shows the balance like any other token.
It costs about 0.002 SOL, and you pay it. That is Solana's rent for the account — it is not a fee to us. We cover sending the tokens; you cover the account, and only if you want one.
You must decompress before you can trade. No exchange routes a compressed balance — Jupiter, Raydium, Meteora and Orca all need a normal token.

You are never required to do anything. If you never decompress, you keep the tokens and spend nothing. This page exists so you know they are there — not to push you into a transaction.
